The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government today marks the fifth anniversary of the Serbian-Korean Information Access Center in Belgrade.
The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Dr. Aleksandar Martinović emphasized that the existence of this center, within the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, is an outstanding example of the partnership of two countries, the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Korea, noting that the SKIP center has achieved enviable results in five years of operation.
“The Serbian-Korean IT Access center is a symbol of good relations between the two countries and proof that this type of partnership directly contributes to the well-being of citizens. “In the past five years, a lot has been done to improve citizens’ capacities in the application of electronic administration,” said Martinović.
Inviting citizens to use the potential and resources that the SKIP center offers them, the minister expressed confidence that it will continue its further development in the direction of supporting digital governance in the Republic of Serbia.
“We remain committed to achieving the goals of the public administration reform, especially in the field of digitization, and in the future we will work more on promoting existing solutions, raising the knowledge and awareness of citizens about new ways in which they can complete a certain procedure in the administration faster and easier,” he said.
He added that the Ministry is determined to continue the successful cooperation with the Republic of Korea in the field of digitization, especially considering that it is a country that is at the very top of the world in terms of technological progress, the development of information systems and electronic services aimed at citizens and the economy.
In order to support the development of electronic administration, on December 20, 2017, within the MPALSG, the Serbian-Korean Information Access Center was established, a unique IT center dedicated to holding free IT training for citizens in the field of information and communication technologies.
By conducting more than 3,000 free trainings in the field of computer and innovative technologies, more than 70,000 people have been trained in this center.
In 2021, the SKIP center was awarded the Golden Plaque as the best information and access center in the world, in competition with about 60 centers whose work is supported by the Republic of Korea, and which operate in the same number of countries around the world.
Bearing in mind the achieved results of the SKIP center in Belgrade, Serbia was given the opportunity to open another SKIP center. The second information and access center will be opened at the beginning of 2023 in Niš.
