The fifth annual Wikipedia Editors’ Conference “Wikilive 2019” will be held on the 20th and 21st of April, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Serbia-Korea Information and Access Center within the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government. Through a diverse two-day program, the conference will bring together a number of experienced editors and administrators of the largest online encyclopedia from these areas. The organizers expect to expand the Balkan’s editorial network, and the most significant awards will be given for contributing to the development of Wikipedia in Serbia. The Wikilive 2019 program will talk about current affairs on Wikipedia, as well as copyright and the significant wiki projects such as “gaffs in TV quizzes” and “vandalism on articles”, while much of the program is reserved for discussion and current issues. High school teachers and university professors will talk about the use of Wikipedia in teaching, and we will also learn how the older population of our citizens cope with the search of the encyclopedia. Beginners will have the opportunity to try their hand at editing articles at a free public lesson and interested “newcomers” can apply via a simple form. Practical workshops will be held at the conference and several important interactive presentations will be presented to the participants. The idea is to strengthen the team spirit with the program and the specific way of organizing the conference, and also to encourage joint solving of current problems on Wikipedia. Wikilive participants will also undergo communication training aimed at adopting productive discussion techniques and successfully resolving conflicts. In the solemn part of the program, the editors will be awarded prizes for their achievements in Wikipedia competitions, and the most significant annual “Branislav Jovanovic” award will be presented to the editor who has contributed especially to the development of the encyclopedia in Serbia, as well as to the entire Wikimedia movement for free knowledge dissemination.
