On the occasion of the International Women’s Day this year, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government will be the proud host of the special Wikimedia editorial marathon dedicated to the famous Serbian women, organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy. At the Serbia-Korea Information Access Center in Belgrade, Dobrinjska Street No. 11, on Friday, March 8, from 9 am to 5 pm, volunteers and editors of Wikimedia Serbia will write articles about the famous women from Serbia, who left an indelible mark on education, science, information, culture and art. At the same time, in the capital of France, Paris, a great International Wikipedia editorial marathon will be held, where the editors of the largest online encyclopedia will also write articles about women who have taken a significant place in world history. With this, Serbia is joining a global UNESCO campaign focused on increasing the visibility of women in the world and reducing the gender gap. It is anticipated that the Belgrade editorial marathon will contribute considerably to the enrichment of biographies, content and articles, as well as the increase in the number of texts on women from these territories on the Internet. On the same day, the City Assembly of Belgrade will open its doors to all the visitors who want to see the exhibition “8. March in Serbia, Serbia is part of the world” which will be opened at 10 am in the Ceremonial Hall of the building and organised by the Ministry of Labor and the Mayor of Belgrade. The exhibition will present twenty women who have made a significant contribution in the areas in which UNESCO operates – education, science, culture, art, information and communications, whose biographies can already be found on Wikipedia.
